EMERGING ZOONOTIC DISEASES

Especially the last two years have shown us, that new, infectious diseases represent a major threat to global economies and public health. Around 60% of these diseases emerge from zoonotic events, as it was originally the case for HIV leading up to the HIV-pandemic in the 1980s and as it is the case for the Monkeypox virus, with newly reported outbreaks. In our live session we want to discuss the current situation and future implications on this topic.

  • Will Monkeypox become a global health issue and which measures should be taken now to prevent further negative impacts on the health system?
  • What is the current status on Zika-Virus and the Congenital Zika Syndrome?
  • What has happened with Ebola since the major outbreak in 2014-2016 and what is the current situation?
